Addiction Engagement Counselor (MSW)

 

Location: Vancouver, WA (Hybrid Schedule)
 

Schedule:

  • Monday – Thursday – 10-hour shifts

 

Position Type: Permanent
 

Salary Range: $86,403 – $115,002/year

 

Job Summary

As an Addiction Engagement Counselor, you will play a pivotal role as the "front door" of the Addiction Medicine department.  You’ll handle referrals from Primary Care, Behavioral Health Consultants, Psychiatry, conduct assessments and orientations, and support members in all phases of readiness for change.  Your role will also involve providing individual and group counseling, case management, and care coordination for patients receiving addiction treatment, often working within a multidisciplinary team.

 

Key Responsibilities

Provide assessments, orientations, and high-quality clinical services, including individual, group, and family counseling, for adults and adolescents.  Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement service plans based on best practices. Provide case management by coordinating with other providers, families, and external agencies, including support for patients receiving addiction medications. Document all care in the electronic medical record in compliance with legal and medical standards. Participate in program development, in-service training, and process improvement initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in substance use disorder treatment within the last 5 years or completion of an Addiction Medicine internship.
  • Education: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field (e.g., M.S.W., M.S., M.A., M.Ed.).
  • Licenses/Certifications (must meet at least one):

    • Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee Certification (Washington).
    • Substance Use Disorder Professional License (Washington).
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) at the time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of post-master’s experience in substance use disorder treatment.
  • Experience in integrated healthcare settings including primary care services and working with adolescents or family therapy.
  • Specialized training in trauma treatment and motivational interviewing.
