Director of Infection Control (RN)

Direct Reports: 3 (2 IPs, 1 Consultant)

 

Summary:

The Director of Infection Control (RN) will oversee the management, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of an infection prevention and control program across 16 clinics spanning 4 islands in Hawaii.  This pivotal role involves collaborating with and advising Medical Center and facility leadership teams to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and the development of facility-wide and departmental policies and procedures that adhere to current regulatory standards.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation/improvement of infection prevention and control services/programs.
  • Ensure services/programs meet established standards for quality, regulatory compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions to reduce the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and disease transmission.
  • Develop and review facility-wide and department-specific infection prevention and control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and external committees and agencies on infection control initiatives and projects.
  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders/departments to integrate infection prevention and control goals with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and manage the Hawaii Market Infection Control budget.
  • Conduct educational sessions and presentations on infection prevention and control topics.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of infection control interventions and redesign them as necessary.
  • Participate in epidemiological investigations and outbreak management.
  • Coordinate surveillance activities to identify infection rates above national benchmarks.
  • Act as a liaison between the healthcare facility, medical staff, and community.
  • Participate in the Infection Control Steering Committee and facilitate committee meetings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as an Infection Control Professional in an acute care hospital.
  • Minimum three (3) years of management experience in an infection prevention/control program, including two (2) years of program management/supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, science, or healthcare-related field.
  • Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, environmental health, microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • Infection Control Certificate.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of microbiology, laboratory procedures, aseptic technique, and epidemiological techniques.
  • Proficiency in utilizing epidemiological/public health data and statistical methods.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management, budget management, and employee management.
  • Ability to integrate and coordinate infection prevention and control programs/services across multiple sites.

 

Salary Range: $145,000 - $215,000 per year
