Infection Preventionist 
 

Location: Los Angeles, CA 

 

Position Overview:
 We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infection Preventionist to lead and support infection prevention and control programs.  This role involves proactive identification of infection risks, disease outbreaks, and compliance with regulatory standards.  The Infection Preventionist will play a pivotal role in implementing strategies to enhance patient and staff safety while promoting best practices across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infection Surveillance: Monitor and analyze infection data, identify outbreaks, and escalate findings to leadership. Implement programs to address infection control problems and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Policy Development: Design and update infection prevention policies in alignment with CDC, NHSN, and other national guidelines. Conduct on-site evaluations to assess infection control practices and clinical workflows.
  • Education and Training: Develop and deliver infection prevention training for clinical staff and leadership. Address specific learning needs and provide follow-up consultations to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Performance Improvement: Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives by analyzing infection control programs and identifying areas for improvement. Share tools and recommendations to enhance quality and outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards and mandatory reporting requirements. Provide expertise in epidemiology and occupational health as it relates to infection prevention.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Certified in Infection Control (CIC), required within 24 months of hire.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years of infection prevention or related work.
    • Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or a related field with 5+ years of healthcare experience, OR
    • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of healthcare experience, OR
    • Registered Nurse license with 9+ years of healthcare experience.
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention, regulatory standards, and epidemiology principles.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $150,000–$220,500/year.
